Jaipur, also known as the pink city of Rajasthan, attracts large numbers of tourists every year. It is one of the most picturesque capitals of Rajasthan and has been named the most beautiful city in Asia. The best option for sightseeing in Jaipur is to use taxis, auto rickshaws, and cycle rickshaws. The main
attractions of Jaipur include the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace and the Jantar
Mantar, which are located in the old town. These attractions are very close
together so they can be seen on foot. It also gives you the chance to get up
close and personal with life on the streets of Jaipur.
Hawa
Mahal is the most famous monument in Jaipur with 5 floors (the wind palace). It
has 953 windows with a beautiful filigree through which the air enters. It was
built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap so that the royal ladies could watch the parades
and processions that went through the streets.
Amer
Fort is one of the most beautiful forts around Jaipur. Amber Fort is located in
the Aravali Hills, 7 miles from Jaipur. The construction of Amer began in 1590
by Maharaja Man Singh, was rebuilt by Jai Singh in 1724 and served as the
residence of the Jaipur royal family.
The
Jaigarh Fort, also known as the Victory Fort, was more of a bastion used to
defend a city than a royal residence. The Jaigarh Fort was built between the
15th and 18th centuries and is located on the thorn-covered Aravalis Mountain,
15 km from Jaipur. It's not as nice as Amer Fort, but you have to visit the
attraction.
Nahargarh
Fort is the third fort in Aravalies, 6 km from Jaipur. It is also known as the
home of the tigers. The fort offers panoramic views of the city and is well
worth a visit.
The
Central Government Museum (Albert Hall) houses an excellent collection of art
from Rajasthan, including carved ivory, metal objects, jewelry, ceramics,
textiles and paintings from various art schools in Rajasthan.
Jaipur
is a very romantic city that tourists want to travel to.
